Controversial comedienne Ellen DeGeneres has seen her fair share of heartaches in her fifty-plus years, yet she somehow manages to stay young and find joy in every situation. 

During DeGeneres' early career years, she faced public discrimination and humiliation that forced her to downplay her sexuality. Her love life was one for the tabloids too, with a much publicized infatuation and subsequent breakup with sexual flip-flopper, Anne Heche. DeGeneres overcame these adversities, however, with her distinctive brand of self-depreciating humor, and eventually managed to regain her favored celebrity status.

Now with Oprah out of the talk show path, DeGenerous seems to have truly hit her stride.
